Initiatives 

At Spring Agro Industries Limited (SAIL), we recognize that long-term success is rooted in sustainability. From farm to fork, our operations are guided by responsible practices that minimize environmental impact, support local communities, and ensure food security.

We focus on eight key areas: Preparation, Seeding, Cultivation, Harvesting, Milling, Sorting, Quality Analysis, Packaging, Distribution, and Consumption. Across these stages, we implement a range of programs and initiatives designed to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and promote sustainable agriculture.

Our business strategy is fully aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing our commitment to responsible farming, ethical practices, and a positive impact on society and the environment.

Sustainable Farming at Spring Agro Industries

  • At Spring Agro Industries, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our farms are equipped with a gravity-fed irrigation system, eliminating the need for generator-powered water pumping and reducing harmful emissions.
  • Through flood control and drainage mesures we ensure that excess water is safely returned to rivers while minimizing wastage and not impacting neighbouring farms.
  • Our efficient pest control systems reduce the use of chemicals, making our rice free from pesticides, fungicides, and insecticides.
  • We are committed to eco-friendly packaging. Our packaging is designed for reuse, with a lifespan of up to 400 uses, and we actively promote recycling to reduce waste.
  • Sustainibility and energy conservation is also a priority. We do not use any energy for irrigation and there is no grid electricity at the farms-we use solar lighting.
  • Every initiative reflects our commitment to responsible agriculture, environmental stewardship, and sustainable growth.

This is a locally registered International Company from India; with over 8 years operations in Ghana. The company has invested heavily in the development of over 1,000 hectares of rice farm at Adidome and Fordjoku (Akuse)at the North Tongu District; in the Volta Region of Ghana. 

Spring Agro Industries Ltd has brought into Ghana highly experienced and competent experts in diverse fields of:

  • Agric Business

These are from India and other Asian countries.
The company can boast of modern Agric Technologies such as:

  • Irrigation System: made of canals and pump stations; for ensuring year-round farming,
  • Tractors:: for land preparation 
  • Drones: for spraying fertilizers and weedicides,
  • Combined Harvester: for harvesting the rice when matured,
  • Ultra-Modern Rice Processing Plant: for weighing, drying, polishing, packaging; into international standard finished good.

The company through its farming and operations could boast of over 150 personnel; both locals and foreign expatriates. The company has in place programmes for:

  • Technical Training & Human Resource Development- ensuring sustainable flow of human and technical talents and skills within the value chain.made of canals and pump stations; for ensuring year-round farming,
  • Sports and Local Cultural Development- the company is committed to supporting development of sports talents and infrastructure. That is why we have been the long-standing sponsor for Hohoe Sports Academy (A Ghana Premier League Club). We also support the commemoration and celebration of several Ghanaian Festivals; both within our operational region and beyond.

Logistics Infrastructure

The company could boast of three main Warehouses; located at Madina Market District; Within Tema Free Zone operated by LMI Holdings; and at the Corporate Head Office.

There are a number of vehicles that are deployed to distribute our products; to various markets and customer locations; besides outsourced transport services. We have mini-Vans for handling distribution to modern trade and neighborhood shops and marts; medium trucks for distributing up to 200 bags of rice; trucks for handling loads up to 500 bags and a trailer for handling between 2,000 to 2,500 bags.

OUR FARMS  

Spring Agro Industries Ltd can boast of over 1,000 hectares of Farmland; but we are actively farming on over 650 hectares. We are currently, operating from two farm locations within the South Tongu district of the Volta Region of Ghana:

  • Adidome, and
  • Fordjoku (Akuse)

We farm throughout the year; thanks to our modern irrigation farming system. Our irrigation system is robust and one of the best around; consisting of artificial dam spanning over 5km distance; with canals for distributing the water to various parts of the farm. With modern mechanized pumps; there is all round availability of Water; throughout the year.

The icing on the cake is our ultra-modern commercial drones; that are deployed for fertilizer and weedicide applications. These are high precision tech equipment that give us the best results in all the areas of application.

When the rice is fully matured; they are harvested with over half a dozen Combined harvesters available on our two farms; that harvest our rice with perfection; which is why we do not have stones; nor any form of debris in our rice. We also process this paddy rice in our ultra-modern processing plant or factory at Akyimfo in the Central Tongu district in the Volta Region of Ghana. This is where your rice goes through rigorous process of sorting, drying, milling, polishing and packaging. The finished goods are then stored temporally at the factory and later transported to our ultra -modern ware houses in Accra:

  • Madina (Market District)
  • Tema Free Zone (operated by LMI holdings), and
  • East Legon – at our Corporate Office

These technologies and more cannot be absolute in themselves; without our hardworking and dedicated personnel- both local and foreign operating these technologies; and ensuring their proper maintenance.
